EURO PLANT TRAY
Cooperative sets sizes for reusable plant trays / Call for tenders begins
Against the backdrop of the planned market launch, the cooperative Euro Plant Tray (EPT, Berlin; www.europlanttray.com) has determined the sizes and configuration of its reusable plant trays. It will offer two Normpack 400 trays, one of which was developed for indoor plants by Walther Faltsysteme (Kevelaer, Germany; www.faltbox.com) while the other is an existing model from supplier Floritray (Straelen-Herongen, Germany; www.floritray.de) suitable for a wider range of sizes, the cooperative said.

Walther Faltsysteme will start production of EPT 400 Indoor, which will have 10 holes for pots with a diameter of 12 cm, in 2024. The Floritray model, EPT 400 Universal, will go into production in mid-2024; the organisation noted that it will be able to hold 8 to 10 pots ranging from 10.5 to 13 cm in size. In the coming weeks, there is to be a tender for the production of the EPT 400 Universal tray, EPT board member Flora Späth told Plasteurope.com.
In addition to a barcode and 2D Datamatrix codes, the new trays will also be equipped with an RFID tag. Since the founding of the cooperative in August 2022, the 30 members of Euro Plant Tray from Germany, Austria, France, Norway, Switzerland, and the Netherlands have been jointly developing a system for reusable plant trays that is to be rolled out across Europe from 2024.
