Polyphthalamide products introduced for high temperature applications
Turkish technical thermoplastics supplier Eurotec (Ergene; www.eurotec-ep.com/en) has added polyphthalamide (PPA) high performance polyamide compounds suitable for high temperature applications to its portfolio. The new “Tecomid HT” compounds also have low moisture absorption, providing high chemical resistance and making them suitable for water contact applications. The reinforced grades can be used to replace metal and thermoset plastic applications, the company says.

The material has a continuous working temperature of up to 180°C and a short-term working temperature of up to 250°C, plus a hydrolysis resistance up to 150°C. Reinforced grades are available with aramid fibre, carbon fibre, glass fibre and glass beads. Eurotec says the reinforced grades have a heat deformation temperature (HDT) at 1.80 MPa pressure of up to 290°C, with a tensile modulus of up to 25000 MPa. UV resistant and heat stabilised grades are also available.
