EUROPEAN PLASTICS MACHINERY
Safety recommendation for preventing access to injection moulding machines / Euromap guideline
European plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers association Euromap (Frankfurt / Germany; www.euromap.org) has issued a recommendation for preventing access to danger areas in injection moulding machines. The new "Euromap 78" recommendation covers electrical safety interfaces between injection moulding machines and external safety devices such as doors in the fences surrounding the machines. It defines external safety devices with and without guard locking, and includes recommendations for signal voltage and current levels.
Euromap 78 requires a two channel safe signal to prevent access to the danger areas of the injection moulding machine, with the possibility of reaching into the area with a high safety level as specified in EN 201 "Plastics and rubber machines – injection moulding machines – safety requirements".
