Belgian polymer distributor Eurasiacorp (Gent; www.eurasiacorp.com) said it has agreed to purchase compatriot plastics recycler Matco Plastics (Wielsbeke; www.matcoplastics.be) in a move expected to increase the former’s handling of recycled resins to more than 100,000 t/y. Financial details and the expected closing date for the deal were not disclosed.
Manu Hanet, Eurasiacorp’s founder and chief executive, said the purchase would “extend our sustainable product offering and provide open and closed loop recycling possibilities to our customers.”
The transaction expands the supply of primary and secondary materials to more than 100,000 t/y and increases the recyclates business share from around 6% to more than 25%, the buyer said.
Matco also owns French recycler and processor Reborn Plastics (Paris, www.rebornplastics.com), which it bought in 2020.
