Austrian recycling machinery maker Erema (Ansfelden; www.erema.at) is building a new development centre at its headquarters site, a project scheduled to be completed by February 2023 and include two halls totalling 1,550 m², an office building, and 50 jobs. Financial details for the project were not disclosed.

Erema spends around 5% of annual turnover – sales were last reported at EUR 250 mn – on R&D, with a focus on technologies for plastic waste that is difficult to recycle. After the completion of the new centre, additional machines will be available for material tests, including upstream and downstream processes such as shredding and further processing of the regranulate.

Erema recently bought a 40,000 m² site including halls in the immediate vicinity of company headquarters to increase production capacity by 60%.
