Austrian plastics recycling systems and technology supplier Erema (Ansfelden; www.erema.at) and Italian machine maker Amut (Novara; www.amut.it) have finalised the installation and commissioning of a line that uses washed flakes from post-consumer PET bottles to make food contact grade rPET extruded sheets.
The line, designed for New Zealand-based rigid plastic packaging maker Alto (Albany; www.alto.co.nz), combines Erema’s “Vacurema 1716 T Basic” recycling system, its SW-RTF backflush filter, and its online IV measurement technology with Amut’s “Inline Sheet” production and downstream technology.
The unit is said to make thermoformed rPET sheets with a thickness range of 0.15 - 1.2 mm at throughputs up to 1,500 kg/hr. Alto plans to turn the monolayer sheet into trays and food containers.
