Plastics recycling systems manufacturer Erema (Ansfelden, Linz / Austria; www.erema.at) has sold 61 systems using “TVEplus” technology, representing orders worth EUR 33.2m, since it was launched in May 2010. The company says that the technology offers efficient filtration, homogenisation and degassing, enabling the processing of fully coated and multiple-layer printed plastic waste in a single stage to produce high-quality recycled materials. This helps avoid the problems associated with recycling plastics with high levels of contaminants such as binding agents and other additives that are found in inks. These can be problematical as they break down in parts at the processing temperature of the plastic matrix and “outgassing” takes place, Erema said.
The technology was exhibited for the first time at “K 2010” (www.k-online.de) in Düsseldorf / Germany in late October. The machines also feature “ecoSAVE” technology, which reduces energy consumption by up to 10% and brings down CO2 emissions.
