Two UV resistant PA 6 grades, specifically designed for exterior parts in the automotive industry, are now available from Turkish compounder Epsan Plastic (Bursa; www.epsan.com.tr). “Eplamid” 6 GFR 30 UV and 6 GFR 50 UV have been approved for use by a Scandinavian truck manufacturer, the company said, and have been applied in rear-view mirrors used by a French auto manufacturer. It added that a German car manufacturer has been testing “Eplamid” 6 GFR 30 UV at its Chinese facility for around four months and recently approved its use for a side mirror application.
The company said both grades were tested by the German plastics technology institute, Deutsches Kunststoff-Institut (DKI, Darmstadt; www.dki-online.de) before being commercialised. The materials, along with other product developments, will be displayed by the company at K-2013 from 16 to 23 October in Düsseldorf / Germany.
