EPIC POLYMERS
Better heat flow in electronic building materials
Using plastics in electronic building materials can result in excessive temperatures caused by a heat build-up. Epic Polymers (Kaiserslautern / Germany; www.epicpolymers.com) says its "Star-Therm W" offers a unique solution to this problem since the plastics are both heat-conductive and electrically isolating. The material's good mechnical properties allow for thin-walled constructions, the company says. Possible applications include linear actuators, cascade motors and relays.
