New report assesses plastic processing's environmental impact
The Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe (APME, Avenue E. Nieuwenhuys 4, B-1160 Brussels) has recently published a new report which provides data on the environmental impact of polymer conversion processes. The "Eco-profile" data gives analysis for LDPE and UPVC film production, calendered PVC sheet, PVC and PP injection moulding, PVC and HDPE pipe extrusion, thermoforming and blow moulding drawn from processing companies across the continent. The report is part of a 7-year programme to assess the environmental impact of plastics manufacturing and processing. The report is intended as a guideline to aid processors to identify areas in which they can improve environmental performance.
