Expansion of stock shapes business in Wales / More jobs and improved logistics
The UK business of the German family-owned company Ensinger (GB-Llantrisant, Mid-Glamorgan CF72 8LF; www.ensinger.ltd.uk) is to invest GBP 5.2m in a new facility in Wales for production of machined plastic parts and stock shapes. Since starting in the UK 15 years ago, Ensinger has grown from a small factory unit with three people to seven strategic locations employing more than 200. It has outgrown two previous expansions at its Llantrisant headquarters and is now searching for a 5,000 square metre facility somewhere between Llantrisant and Bridgend. Several sites are being evaluated.
“The move to a purpose-built factory will reinforce our position as a leading UK sub-contractor in precision machined plastic parts and will enable us to enhance our distribution business through greater stockholding and improved logistics,” said UK managing director John Speirs. “New products, including specialist blends for the medical industry and anti-microbial materials, will take up some of the additional warehouse space the new facility will provide.”
The GBP 5.2m expansion includes assistance of GBP 1.45m from the Welsh Assembly Government. It will create 48 new jobs, including 19 in its first year, and safeguard the positions of a further 54 people. In addition to stock shapes, Ensinger is able to supply injection mouldings and cast components. The new warehouse will stock some products manufactured by sister companies in Germany, Italy, France and the Americas.
