Injection moulding machinery producer Engel (Schwertberg / Austria; www.engelglobal.com) has increased its presence in Southeast Asia through the establishment of a regional hub in Bangkok / Thailand, for its local subsidiaries and representatives. The move follows the opening of a sales and service subsidiary in Ho Chi Minh City / Vietnam in September (see Plasteurope.com of 12.09.2016) and complements existing sales and service subsidiaries in Singapore and Thailand.
Romain Reyre has been appointed as Engel’s president, Southeast Asia, and will be responsible for the entire region. He has 25 years of experience in the plastics and packaging industry in Europe, the US, Latin America and Southeast Asia. He has been living in the area for some time and has an understanding of the local markets, the company said.
Christoph Steger, Engel’s chief sales officer, said: “We are viewed as a technological leader in the region, are among the leading regional providers for the automotive supply sector, and are experiencing a great deal of growth, especially in the area of packaging. This is precisely why we are now combining the responsibilities for these dynamic markets: to benefit even more from the resulting synergies in future, while at the same time, together with the strong local teams, fulfilling the specific requirements of individual countries in an even more customised manner.”
