ENGEL AUSTRIA
“e-cap” fully electric injection moulding machine to be highlighted at “Brau Beviale” in Nuremberg/ Unit is capable of producing almost 130,000 caps and closures per hour
Engel Austria (Schwertberg; www.engelglobal.com) will provide a video demonstration of the significant cuts in unit costs that fully electric injection moulding machines can bring to cap and closure production at the “Brau Beviale” (www.brau-beviale.de/en) capital goods trade fair for the beverage industry, which takes place in Nuremberg / Germany from 9 to 11 November 2011. The machines offer short cycle times and high injection speeds and are steadily capturing the market for high-performance and high-speed applications, the company said.

The Engel “e-cap” has been engineered for maximum output and process stability in the production of caps and closures, utilising fully electric injection moulding, efficient use of energy and cooling water, fully electric drive technology and a powerful injection unit in the premium version. With a 96-cavity mould and cycle time of 2.7 seconds, the “e-cap” 420 can produce almost 130,000 caps and closures hourly.
The “e-cap” range offers clamping forces of between 100 t and 420 t, with cycle times under five seconds and injection speeds of up to 450 mm per second. Engel claims that, compared to hydraulic machines, the range reduces energy consumption by over 40%.
The company will also detail its production of beverage crates on a “duo pico” injection moulding machine, with an emphasis on efficient multi-component technologies combined with in-mould labelling to ensure very high quality surface finishes for sales packaging.
