EMS-CHEMIE
Engineering plastics division now “Ems-Grivory” / Activities worldwide
The engineering thermoplastics division of the Ems Group (CH-7013 Domat; www.ems-chemie.com) has been renamed Ems-Grivory. The new name is intended to exclude any confusion with Ems-Chemie Holding AG in future – the name used for the Ems Group as a whole. So far, “Grivory” has been the product name used for temperature-resistant and partially aromatic co-polyamides (PA 12) from Ems. The name, Grivory, with its overtones of “ivory” and hence noble, high-grade materials, is now to be used for the entire product range of Ems polyamides.

At the same time, the new name of Ems-Grivory reflects the flatter corporate structure, and the engineering thermoplastics business has also been upgraded within the group by having divisional manager Albert Reich report directly to the board of Ems-Chemie Holding AG in Zurich. In the 2000 business year, Ems-Grivory achieved sales of some CHF 500m with more than 700 employees. Apart from the headquarters in Domat, the company also has production plants in Gross-Umstadt, Germany, as well as in the US and Taiwan; it operates its own technology centre in Japan. Products are sold worldwide.
