EMP / POLITEC
Swiss activities of PC sheet extrusion groups merge as Koscon International / Operations in other countries not affected
At the end of June polycarbonate sheet extrusion companies Estrusioni Materiali Plastici (EMP, Stabio / Switzerland; www.macrolux-emp.com) and Politec Polimeri Tecnici (Stabio / Switzerland; www.politecsa.com) announced their successful merger into Koscon Industrial (Stabio / Switzerland). The transaction, a result of a rationalisation and synergic programme, leaves the two brands EMP and Politec fully independent.
Further details of the deal were not disclosed, although an EMP representative did tell Plasteurope.com that the merger only applied to the company’s operations in Switzerland, while its offices in Benelux, UK, France, Germany and the US would still operate under the EMP name. Although Plasteurope.com was unable to get a comment from Politec about the merger, it can be assumed that here, too, the transaction only affects the Swiss business and not the company’s operations in Italy, France, Germany, Russia, Benelux, UK and the US.
The portfolios of the two companies, both of which engage in polycarbonate sheet extrusion, are highly complementary. EMP brings to the merger its 104 employees in Stabio as well as production capacity of 13,000 t/y.
