It took over a year to find a new general secretary for the French plastics packaging industry association Elipso (Paris; www.elipso.org) after Emmanuel Guichard moved to cosmetics association Febea in spring 2021. The new man in the position is Gaël Bouquet, who took charge on 7 November.
Bouquet said he is convinced of the need to “reconcile industrial and environmental approaches without compromising the activities of our members”.
He comes to Elipso from the French Automobile Manufacturers Association (CCFA; www.ccfa.fr), where he was director of public relations. He has also worked as an independent consultant for the circular economy and electromobility.
Elipso represents 320 companies with 38,000 employees and a turnover of EUR 8.1 bn. The association releases statements on economic issues, raw material price pressures, and packaging regulations. Its last position paper detailed recycled content targets in plastic packaging, which are part of the upcoming revision of the Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD – see Plasteurope.com of 28.10.2022).
