The company is currently raising the production space at group headquarters to 11,000 m2. The 3,200 m2 addition is expected to be completed in January next year, CEO Volker Scheffels told Plasteurope.com. Aside from additional storage space, the expansion also makes room for 14 new injection moulding machines. EKT already operates more than 24 injection moulding machines with clamping forces of up to 6,500 kN in Bad Salzuflen. The investment will also lift the site’s workforce from the current 150 to about 180-190 in the medium term.
Further east, in the Czech Republic, the company plans to build a new production facility in Litovel, near Olomouc. Scheduled for completion in autumn next year, the plant is strategically located near the production sites of Miele, Hella and Siemens – all EKT’s customers. The main reason behind the Czech expansion is logistics, specifically the availability of shorter transportation routes, Scheffels said. The initial plans call for a production hall of 8,500 m2, which offers room for 21 injection moulding machines and up to 70 employees. With the overal site measuring 18,000 m2, further expansions are possible.
EKT expects to lift sales by 23% this year to EUR 26m. The latest measures to expand capacity also pave the way for ongoing high growth rates in the coming years. The company specialises in the production of functional parts and components for dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, washing machines and other household goods. Aside from that, its portfolio also comprises components for respirators, among others.
