ECOLEAN
Swedish aseptic packaging producer adds new factory in China
Swedish plastic packaging and machinery provider Ecolean (Helsingborg; www.ecolean.com) has added a new factory and warehouse to its existing production facilities in China’s Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, located near the capital of Beijing. The 4,900 m2 plant almost triples its existing capacity in China, the company said, adding that it has also added a new aseptic lab as well as training facilities.

Ecolean produces a range of aseptic packaging and filling machines. Its machinery range is fitted to process its proprietary “Calymer” packaging material, which consists of calcium carbonate and binding layers made of PE and PP as well as an EVOH layer to protect against oxygen. Calymer has been approved for use in food contact.

In the production process, the packaging material is folded, shaped and sealed in the company’s machines, yielding roll stock of individual ready-to-fill packages. Each of these packages is hermetically sealed and sterilised. The company does not sell Calymer resins, instead focuses on packages that include both the packaging material and the relevant machinery.
