Lineup of effect pigments to be presented at NPE 2024
Pigments supplier Eckart, a unit of German speciality chemicals group Altana (Wesel; www.altana.com), is set to present a new lineup of effect pigments at the upcoming NPE Plastics Show (www.npe.org) in Orlando, Florida, USA. Held every three years, the show scheduled for 2021 had been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.
Its NIR Silver series of novel pigments are specially optimised for their detectability by automatic plastics sorting systems, which do not always correctly identify certain colourants such as conventional silver shade, Eckart said. The pigments offer impressive silver metallic effects especially for packaging applications, are easy to process in all conventional plastics, and support the recyclability of plastics, it noted.

Eckart’s Stapa AC Reflexal line of aluminium pigments uses mass colouring technology to produce a chrome-like appearance. Mass colouring replaces spray painting or coating processes while providing an elevated level of brightness and gloss.
Lasersafe 020 pigment achieves a bright laser marking on dark background substrates and is suitable for all polymers and liquid masterbatches, the company said.
Its Mastersafe Symic Sahara Blue pigment is suited to applications where a new special colour effect is needed. The oscillating colour, hue, and illumination effect cannot be achieved by mixing other effect pigments with colours, Eckart added.
Edelstein pigments are a highly chromatic effect series with four colour effects available.
Luxan C842 Spotlight Red is a pearlescent pigment that achieves new benchmarks in sparkle and colour intensity compared with competitive products. Efficient coating technology enables the pigment to reflect light in a way that results in a pronounced sparkle, Eckart said.
