Capacity expansion for “Zytel” PA resins at German plant / Meeting rising automotive demand
The Performance Polymers business of US chemical giant DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware; www.dupont.com) has increased capacity for its glass fibre-reinforced “Zytel” PA 6 and PA 6.6 resins at Hamm-Uentrop / Germany by 20%. Without revealing capacity figures, the group said the expansion will meet growing demand, primarily from the automotive industry.

“We continually work to optimise and refresh our nylon product line,” said Richard Mayo, global business director for DuPont’s nylon businesses. “It’s this attention to matching the portfolio to customers’ needs that has helped us build the world’s broadest portfolio of nylon products and continue to expand that offering.”

DuPont manufactures a full range of the two engineering polymers in addition to PPA and long chain polyamide (LCPA) resins in Europe, the Americas and Asia. It also operates compounding sites in 13 countries. Hamm-Uentrop is its largest PA production site in Europe. The group recently announced an increase in output of Zytel PPA at Richmond, Virginia / USA – see Plasteurope.com of 24.03.2015.
