US “Tedlar” plant in start-up mode / State aid
DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware / USA; www.dupont.com) reportedly is in the process of starting up a new USD 175m plant for its “Tedlar” polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) films at Circleville, Ohio / USA – see Plasteurope.com of 25.01.2010. The project is part of a major expansion of the films used as backsheets for solar modules, which was kicked off by the US chemical giant in 2008 – see Plasteurope.com of 15.09.2008.
The location of the new facility in Ohio was supported by a USD 50m Advanced Energy Manufacturing Credit as part of the US government’s recovery from recession scheme, in addition to USD 6m in incentives from the state of Ohio. In announcing the investment, DuPont said it expected its overall sales to the photovoltaics industry to exceed USD 1 bn by 2012.
