Capacity increase for ethylene copolymers in The Netherlands
DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers (Europe: Geneva / Switzerland; www.dupont.com) is widening capacity for specialty ethylene copolymers at Dordrecht / The Netherlands by an unspecified margin. The move is in response to what the US group says is strong demand for its “Bynel” adhesive resins, “Fusabond” modifier resins and “Appeels” lidding sealants. The increased output will be in the market from July of this year and add to DuPont’s network of manufacturing capabilities in Europe, the US and Asia-Pacific.
Carolann Haznedar, global business director of DuPont Ethylene Copolymers, said the expansion also “supports customers’ drive for more sustainable solutions.” Fusabond resins help bond dissimilar polymers to facilitate recycling, while the Bynel coextrudable adhesive resins enable packaging manufacturers to bring together and optimise barrier, heat-seal and other functions in multi-layer structures such as films, bottles, tubes and thermoformable sheets. Solvent-free Appeel adds “sustainability benefits” to packaging.
