US chemicals producer DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware; www.dupont.com) has opened a production facility for “Butacite” G safety glass )PVB) interlayers in Holešov / Czech Republic. The plant will produce the glass entirely from recycled PVB materials and will employ 70 workers. William Harvey, president of DuPont’s packaging and industrial polymers business, said: “This investment demonstrates DuPont’s focus on central and eastern Europe and supports our commitment to deliver science-based innovations and sustainable solutions for our customers. The patented technology used at this facility enables product waste to be recycled and provides value through its reuse in safety glass interlayers made of 100% recycled material.”
“Butacite” PVB interlayers are used to protect solar cells in photovoltaic arrays and in the production of laminated glass for automotive and architectural applications such as windshields and safety glass.
