DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware / USA; www.dupont.com) has launched a new range of high performance engineering resins targeted at under-the-hood automotive applications. The company said the products, part of its “Zytel” range of nylon resins, can significantly extend the performance life of under-the-hood automotive components, enabling further replacement of metals with lighter weight plastics.
“With the launch of Zytel PLUS, DuPont is delivering market-driven innovation that enables plastic components to reliably perform twice as long in that environment, reducing weight and supporting the push for sustainable mobility," said Diane Gulyas, president of DuPont Performance Polymers.
Zytel PLUS can improve heat performance by 30-40°C compared with traditional nylons, DuPont said. The products use DuPont’s Shield technology, which uses polymer modifications and additives to enhance performance.
