DUPONT TEIJIN FILMS
Restructuring efforts successfully completed
The far-reaching restructuring efforts touted by DuPont Teijin Films (Europe: Luxembourg; www.dupontteijinfilms.com) in April 2009 – see Plasteurope.com of 30.04.2009 – have been wrapped up following the consolidation of the company’s North American activities in its plant in Hopewell, Virginia. The Teijin and DuPont joint venture, which is considered to be one of the world’s leading BOPET manufacturers, already shut down its plant in Circleville, Ohio in 2009 and recently the facility in Florence, South Carolina met the same fate. The restructuring has not left the company’s European facilities untouched either: In June 2009, the jv permanently closed one line in its plant in Luxembourg.
According to the company’s own estimates, DuPont Teijin Films last generated sales of more than USD 1.1 bn, with more than 3,000 employees worldwide. The company has capacity to produce 280,000 t/y of film. DuPont Teijin Films’ European operations include plants in Luxembourg and Dumfries / UK as well as a technology centre in Wilton / UK.
