Joint venture now in operation / "INSITE" technology for new EPDM plant
DuPont Dow Elastomers (HQ: Wilmington, DE 19809, USA) is the new name for the 50/50 joint venture in specialty elastomer products set up between DuPont and The Dow Chemical Company. Operational from April 1996 the joint venture brings together DuPont's long established thermoplastic elastomers business with Dow's new "INSITE" metallocene technology. One of the first applications for this technology within the new company will be at a plant for "Nordel" EPDM rubber in Louisiana, USA. The new plant will be operational early next year and have 90,000 t/y capacity.
DuPont Dow will employ more than 2,500 people in more than 25 countries. European regional headquarters will be in Geneva, Switzerland. Jean-Louis Raynaud has been named President of the European Region. Worldwide sales during the first year of operation are expected to exceed $ 1bn and to grow to 2bn over the next five years.
