Material sciences specialist Royal DSM (Heerlen / The Netherlands; www.dsm.com) has expanded its partnership with Belgian compounder and distributor giant Ravago (Arendonk; www.ravago.com). The companies have developed a portfolio of glass reinforced recycled PA 6 compounds, by combining DSM’s expertise in PA 6 with Ravago’s recycling experience. The materials will be offered by DSM directly and distributed by Ravago group member Resinex (www.resinex.com), which is an established distributor of DSM engineering plastics across Europe and Turkey.

The new recycled PA6 grades, which DSM is marketing under its “Akulon” brand, contain more than 50% post-consumer resin and are available with 30% and 35% glass fibre reinforcement. The materials are particularly suited to automotive under-the-bonnet applications such as air intake manifolds and engine covers as well as furniture applications, including structural parts in office chairs, DSM said.
