DSM ENGINEERING PLASTICS
Expanding operations at US facility in Evansville / Around-the-clock production launched
DSM Engineering Plastics (Sittard / The Netherlands; www.dsmep.com) continues to expand its footprint in the US. After announcing at the start of this year that its Americas headquarters would move to a new facility to accommodate the company’s recent growth (see Plasteurope.com of 11.01.2016), DSM Engineering Plastics Americas in late February said it would expand its operations in Evansville, Indiana / USA over the course of the next five years.
The company did not disclose the investment cost, nor did it say whether capacity would be lifted. It did say that the 16,000 m² facility would be renovated and upgraded to allow for around-the-clock operations, ensuring more efficient and reliable production of its high-performance engineering thermoplastics. By the end of this year, up to 25 new positions could be added at the site, which already employs 160 workers.
Founded in 1970, the Evansville plant manufactures thermoplastics for the automotive, E&E, flexible food packaging and consumer goods industries. Applications include air intake manifolds, mobile connectors, food packaging and office chairs, among others.
