DREYPLAS
Distributing Mitsui Chemicals' UHMW-PE “Lubmer” and “Hi-Zex Million” range in Europe
German plastics and additives distributor Dreyplas (Meerbusch; www.dreyplas.com) has added Mitsui Chemicals’ (Tokyo / Japan; www.mitsuichem.com) ultra-high molecular weight PE (UHMW-PE) to its European distribution portfolio. The Meerbusch-based group is now offering the latter’s “Lubmer” pellet-form UHMW-PE as well as its “Hi-Zex Million” powder-form grades.
Specialised for injection moulding, “Lubmer L5000” can also be extruded, Dreyplas said. The range is characterised by good noise reduction and electrical insulating properties that exceed those of conventional polyolefins, making it particularly suitable for electrical appliance components such as paper feed rollers of gearwheels in office equipment, the distributor added. Other application fields include the automotive sector, including as seat belt components. In addition, some Lubmer grades have been FDA-approved for food contact. Dreyplas will be offering the base grades (L3000, L4000 and L5000) as well as the internally lubricated L5220 and the highly heat resistant L4420, L4640 and LS4140.
The “Hi-Zex Million” range is characterised by high molecular weight and impact strength as well as its ability to slide without lubrication and its water-repellent properties. Several grades have FDA approval and are thus suitable for use in silo linings and other food-related applications. Other potential end uses include mechanical engineering, such as gearwheels, and sports and leisure applications.
