High performance polyether polyol launched / Cost-effective alternative to PTMEG
Dow Chemical’s (Midland, Michigan / USA; www.dow.com) PU division has launched a high performance polyether polyol suitable for adhesive, sealant and elastomer formulations in markets including transportation, construction, packaging and electronics. The polyol, “Voranol” 223-060LM, can be used to replace polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG) in certain applications, with the advantage that it allows easier processing due to its low viscosity, the company said. It also has excellent mechanical properties and retains performance in high heat environments, it added.

Bill Reeves, North American business director at Dow Polyurethanes, said the new product will help customers meet their specific formulation and processing needs. “Our customers wanted an alternative to more expensive PTMEG. So we delivered a cost-effective and high-performing solution,” he stated.
