Official start-up of octene LLDPE line in Map Ta Phut
Now that the Thai government has given the official go-ahead for plans to build new petrochemical facilities in Map Ta Phut – see Plasteurope.com of 16.09.2010 – Dow Chemical (Midland, Michigan / USA; www.dow.com) has announced the official start-up of its “Solution Linear Low Density Polyethylene II train” (SPE II). Owned by Siam Polyethylene, a joint venture between the Midland-based group and Thailand’s Siam Cement Group (Bangkok; www.scg.co.th), SPE II’s output is expected to become commercially available this month already.
The plant, which manufactures high-grade octene (C8) is reported to have a nameplate capacity of 350,000 t/y.
