Domo Chemicals (Leuna / Germany; www.domochemicals.com) has started using a new sustainable black masterbatch based on recycled material to complement the recycled base polymer in “Econamid”, its brand of sustainable polyamides, which is based on recycled industrial waste.

The new ingredient is Cabot’s (Louvain / Belgium; www.cabot-corp.com) “Techblak” PE1003 black masterbatch. This uses a post-industrial rPE carrier as an alternative to virgin polymer, with similar mechanical processing characteristics. It has been developed for standard compounding and is specifically designed to help the industry lower its carbon footprint as well as increase the amount of recycled content in end-products.

The introduction of this new recycled masterbatch helps meet the circularity needs of the plastics industry and supports the sustainability targets of various industries while maintaining optimal performance. Domo as a company wants to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. As an interim step, emissions are to be frozen at the 2019 level by 2030 at the latest. At the same time, a 15% reduction in the carbon content of the energy mix and a 7% reduction in waste have also been planned.
