DOEFLEX
Acquisition of nylon compounder Synlon
Compounding and sheet extrusion group, Doeflex Industries Ltd (HQ: Holmethorpe Avenue, Redhill, GB-Surrey RH1 2NR) has purchased the nylon compounder Synlon Ltd (Grove Mills, Elland, GB-West Yorkshire HX5 9DZ) from John Ward (Holdings) Ltd for a cash consideration of GBP 850,000. Synlon is a medium sized compounder mainly processing textile waste. Estimated throughput is around 2,000 t/y. Turnover for the year ended 30.09.96 was GBP 2.7m.

Doeflex, which until last year were primarily involved in PVC compounds, is clearly looking to expand in the engineering resin market. Last year it acquired the Polymers Division of BTP PLC (see Plasteurope.com 13, 1996) which included Perrite Plastic Compounds. This latest acquisition will be managed by Perrite Plastic Compounds and will fill an important gap in its range of technical compounds.
