Transparent polyamide 12 elastomer
Transparent block copolymer "Vestamid E58-S4", consisting of polyamide 12 and polyether segments, will provide designers with a wide range of new possibilities for translucent and brilliantly coloured injection moulded parts, according to its manufacturer Degussa (Düsseldorf / Germany; www.degussa.com). The company says that the new material retains all the properties of Vestamid E moulding compounds that are used, for example, in the manufacture of soles for sports shoes.

Vestamid E58-S4 has a Shore hardness of 59 D and a tensile modulus of 185 MPa. The moulding compound does not contain any optical brighteners and is light- and heat-stabilised. Through its transparency, light standard colours look particularly vivid, Degussa says. Pearlescent and opalescent colours can also be produced.
