DECEUNINCK
Construction started on new PVC profiles plant in USA / Housebuilding activity continues to grow
Belgian PVC profile systems manufacturer Deceuninck (Hooglede-Gits; www.deceuninck.com) has started building a new production facility in the US. The 50,000 m2 building in Fernley, Nevada, in the country’s western region, will have capacity for up to 24 extrusion lines. Deceuninck said the 28 acre-site enjoys optimal access to motorway and railway networks.
A first phase of six extrusion lines will start production in the second quarter of 2016. The facility will also include warehousing capacity to serve its customers in North America. At full capacity, the company will create 80 new jobs, in addition to the 450 employees already working at its main site and headquarters in Monroe, Ohio.
Tom Debusschere, Deceuninck’s CEO, said: “US homebuilding renovation activity continues its progression and US new housing starts are currently around 1.2 million units per year, which is nearing the historical average of 1.5 million units/year.” He added: “We have enjoyed extraordinary growth over the past couple of years. At this pace, our current Monroe, Ohio facility will be at full capacity by the end of 2016.”
Debusschere explained that in the western USA, installation methods and larger glass surfaces required different window designs compared with other regions in the country. He said Monroe’s central location was best placed to serve the densely populated states in the east and midwest, while its new facility in Fernley (near Reno), Nevada, was perfectly situated to supply the fast-growing western states.
