DECEUNINCK
Plans to cut more than 200 jobs at Inoutic in Germany / Production shift to Poland and Russia
Belgian PVC profiles manufacturer Deceuninck (Hooglede-Gits /
www.deceuninck.com) plans to eliminate around 30% of the 617 jobs at its subsidiary Inoutic (Bogen / Germany; www.inoutic.com) as it shifts some of the production activities of the former Thyssen Polymers to Poznan / Poland and Protvino / Russia. As yet, the parent company has not provided details about which products will be manufactured in eastern Europe. Deceuninck CEO Clemens de Meersman said the shift "takes account of changed market conditions."
Parallelling the move eastward, Deceuninck also plans to make changes in Inoutic's organisational structure in an attempt to improve the bottom line. In 2006, the German company posted a loss of EUR 34.8m, following a positive result of EUR 19m in 2005 – see Plasteurope.com of 21.05.2007.
The window systems business in future will be complemented by two new units – Non-fenestration (window sills, siding and decking), including the wood-plastics composites (WPC) business in the German-speaking countries and southeastern Europe, and Innovation and Architecture.
