CRODA COATINGS & POLYMERS
Bio-based PA building block offers new high-end applications
Croda Coatings & Polymers (Gouda / The Netherlands; www.crodacoatingsandpolymers.com) has introduced a bio-based building block for use in high molecular weight PA engineering plastics and elastomer applications. The chemistry of the high purity C36 building block “Priamine” 1075, a dimer diamine, is claimed to bring 100% renewable carbon content, flexibility (including at low temperatures), high hydrophobicity, low moisture absorption, dimensional stability, an affinity for a wide range of substrates and low melt viscosity combined with improved melt flow. Croda said that “Priamine” offers the opportunity for novel formulations, allowing new high-end applications to be developed, for example in electronics, transportation and sports.
