Swiss sales office to be closed / Scores of workers to be made redundant
German plastics group Covestro (Leverkusen; www.covestro.com) has announced plans to control sales in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region from its headquarters in Leverkusen, which means it will no longer need its office in Freiburg, Switzerland.

The office is to be closed by mid-2024, the company said, with media reports saying the nearly 70 workers at the site will all lose their jobs.

In addition to eliminating duplicate structures, the aim is also to speed up decisions, a spokesperson told Plasteurope.com. He noted that the measure is part of “group-wide activities to increase operational efficiency”, as the company, like its competition, is “suffering heavily from the current economic conditions”.
