TPU line in Taiwan begins production / Uses for output include paint-protection films
Covestro (Leverkusen, Germany; www.covestro.com) said it has inaugurated a new production line for thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) suitable for the manufacture of paint-protection films (PPF) at its Changhua site in Taiwan. The products are to be made available worldwide, the plastics group said, noting that it offers new TPU-based PPF solutions under the Desmopan UP brand name.

Covestro explained that coatings for automotive surfaces are the primary area of application for the materials. However, due to their high durability and adaptability, the products can also be used to protect the rotor blades of wind turbines or the screens of electronic devices.
