CEO change brought forward / Patrick Thomas to retire in May

Patrick Thomas will retire as CEO of Covestro (Leverkusen / Germany; www.covestro.com) on 31 May 2018, ahead of schedule (see Plasteurope.com of 30.05.2017). The company's supervisory board made the decision on 13 April. Thomas' successor, Markus Steilemann, will take up the post on 1 June. Originally, Thomas' contract would have ended on 30 September 2018. A spokesman told Plasteurope.com the decision was taken "by mutual agreement", and there was no specific reason for the early handover.
From June on, the company's board of management will consist of Steilemann, CTO Klaus Schäfer and new CFO Thomas Toepfer.
