Markus Steilemann to succeed Patrick Thomas as CEO in 2018

Covestro's (Leverkusen / Germany; www.covestro.com) CEO Patrick Thomas has confirmed that he will complete his contract on 30 September 2018. In a unanimous election, the supervisory board decided on Markus Steilemann as Thomas' successor.
Since 2015, Steilemann has been chief commercial officer at Covestro's board of management. He joined Bayer in 1999 and Bayer MaterialScience in 2004. From 2008, he held various management positions in the Polycarbonates segment in Asia. Between 2013 and 2015, Steilemann headed the Polycarbonates segment before being appointed to Covestro's board of management, where he has been responsible for the Polyurethanes segment.
