The focus here is on LDPE plastics waste from the post-consumer sector, said the disposal services provider in reply to a Plasteurope.com query. Concrete figures on the agreed purchasing volumes were not given, only that “the quantities will match the demand”.
Interzero will reportedly supply the collected plastics waste to ReCover’s processing plants, where they will be turned into recyclate. At present, as part of its recycling activities, Coveris operates two facilities in the UK, including one in Louth in Lincolnshire since June last year. There, it recycles production scrap from its own polyethylene film extrusion lines. The capacity is said to be 5,000 t/y.
ReCover was founded by Coveris at the end of 2022 and contains the site and assets of UK recycler Capital Valley Plastics, which it had acquired shortly beforehand for this purpose.
According to Interzero, Coveris plans to further expand its activities in Europe. The long-term target of the supply agreement that has now been concluded, it says, is to create a closed cycle.
