A plant for the production of stretch film for silage bales has been commissioned by flexible packaging manufacturer Coveris (Vienna; www.coveris.com). The Kufstein, Austria, facility can produce five-layer films from polyethylene, whereby the recycled content – processed, old agricultural films – is at least 30%.
The company said it invested some EUR 10 mn as part of a site modernisation programme that increased capacity there. The plant is the packaging group’s largest film production facility with an output of 65,000 t/y, a company spokesperson told Plasteurope.com.
Coveris recently commissioned a new, five-layer extrusion line for film for thin shrink and stretch hoods in Montfaucon, France (see Plasteurope.com of 01.03.2022). The company has 29 subsidiaries worldwide and employs 4,100 people. It reported that sales in 2021 increased 10% to EUR 890 mn.
