Further expansion into UK food packaging market / Two flexographic presses to be commissioned over the next year
Chicago-based packaging group Coveris (Illinois / USA; www.coveris.com) has invested in two flexographic printing presses to support growth within the UK flexibles sector and for expansion into new markets.
The flexible plastics division of subsidiary company, Coveris UK, recently acquired Burnley, Lancashire / UK based flexographic print specialist Learoyd Packaging (see Plasteurope.com of 26.08.2014), and Coveris is aiming to continue to expand its UK food operation with the “Miraflex” eight-colour presses from Windmöeller & Höelscher (Lincoln, Rhode Island / USA; www.whcorp.com), to be installed at its Gainsborough and Burnley sites.
The press installed in Burnley has been commissioned to include advanced colour management specifications as well as in-line gravure capabilities. Operations are scheduled to commence in the latter part of 2015 at Gainsborough and commissioning is due to take place at Burnley in early 2016.
