As part of its strategy to fully integrate its Coperion and Coperion K-Tron business units, German machinery maker Coperion (Stuttgart; www.coperion.com) has touted plans to realign and relocate its North American operations in Ramsey and Pitman, New Jersey; Wytheville, Virginia and Houston, Texas. The restructuring will result in all operations currently carried out at Ramsey being transferred to the three other plants, with the Wytheville and Pitman facilities set to be modified as a result. The reorganisation is due to be completed by November 2015.
Coperion said the Ramsey plant would continue operations as usual right up to the moment when the restructuring at Pitman is completed. Only then will operations be moved to the latter. The company added that the site in Wytheville will continue to function as a manufacturing base, while the Houston office will remain the main hub for sales and engineering support.
Coperion president Thomas Kehl said the consolidation is expected to “improve efficiencies and provide even stronger support for our customers in the Americas.”
