Metal and plastic hybrid parts specialist Conttek (Pforzheim / Germany; www.conttek.com) was acquired a few days ago by the Kolektor Group (Idrija / Slovenia; www.kolektor.com). The transaction also includes Czech subsidiary Tesla Jihlava which was purchased in 2012. No financial details were disclosed. Antitrust approval is still outstanding.
“With this strategic investor behind it, Conttek is being expanded into a technology centre at the heart of the German automotive industry,” explained Conttek managing directors Michael Berner and Stefan Gimber.
The small group currently has some 500 employees at its two locations in Pforzheim and Jihlava. It produces mechatronic components in metal and plastic, some of which are composite-metal hybrids. The company’s latest sales figure is close to EUR 50m.
Kolektor, which focuses primarily on supplying automotive electronics and which acquired Stuttgart-based insulation material producer Missel Schwab in 2012, intends to expand the high-precision hybrid component range within its Components & Systems division. The company’s sales, which currently stand at a good EUR 500m, are to be doubled by 2022, including through further acquisitions.
