Packaging manufacturer Constantia Flexibles (Vienna / Austria; www.cflex.com) said its unit Constantia ColorCap has sold its Polish “Toppers” business in Rybnik to Crispy Food (Gørlev / Denmark; www.crispyfood.com), by its own account the largest producer of breakfast and cereal products in Denmark. The deal does not include Constantia’s ColorCap facility and operations in Jejkowice / Poland, which produces aluminum lids and films for pharmaceutical and sterile packaging. No financial details were disclosed.
Crispy Food said the acquisition signals its goal to become the leading toppers partner to the European dairy and food industry. “We believe in the long-term market opportunities driven by an increased demand for on-the-go and convenient food solutions, as well as hygiene-friendly portion-pack products,” added CEO Christian Bring.
A “topper” or “top-cup” is a plastic snap-on cup filled with granola, cereals or other topping, which is mixed on top of a portion-pack cup filled with yoghurt. The Rybnik site can produce about 100m toppers per year.
