Packaging and labels manufacturer Constantia Flexibles (Vienna / Austria; www.cflex.com) has acquired Italian dairy lidding company TR Alucap (Borgo Valsugana; www.tr-alucap.com/en) for an undisclosed amount. Before the transaction, TR Alucap was owned by investment company Gradiente SGR (Padua / Italy; www.gradientesgr.it) and an unnamed private equity company.
TR Alucap supplies aluminium die-cut lids and plastic films to local dairies and international food manufacturers, and has annual sales of almost EUR 20m. It is located close to Trento, which has Italy’s highest yoghurt production, and has more than 50 employees, Constantia Flexibles said in a statement.
Stefan Grote, executive vice president of Constantia Flexibles’ European food division, said: “TR Alucap allows us to extend our market share in the Italian dairy market – the fifth largest in Europe – and fits in with our strategy of strengthening our position as a leading player in the European foil packaging market.”
Constantia Flexibles’ dairy business has a network of European plants that make products including yoghurt lids, yoghurt banderoles, liquid pouches, cheese foil/films and laminates.
