CLONDALKIN
Additional printing presses installed at Wentus and Flexoplast subsidiaries in Germany and The Netherlands / Capacity expanded
The Engineered Films business of Dutch packaging giant Clondalkin (Amsterdam; www.clondalkingroup.com) has invested a “multi-million euro” amount in its WentusKunststoff (Höxter / Germany; www.wentus.de) and Flexoplast (Wieringerwerf / The Netherlands; www.flexoplast.nl) subsidiaries. Each site received a “Comexi F2” high-speed printing press from Comexi (Riudellots de la Selva / Spain; www.comexigroup.com) that will not only raise capacity, but will also improve manufacturing efficiency and flexibility to produce printed film laminates for the food and beverage packaging markets.
The new equipment is the latest in a series of investments Clondalkin has made at the sites over the course of the last five years. They included a “Comexi F1 10” colour press, a “Comix 8” colour press and a 5-layer barrier extruder from Reifenhäuser (Troisdorf / Germany; www.reifenhauser.com) at Flexoplast, as well as a “Comexi F1” colour press, another Reifenhäuser 5-layer barrier cast film line, a Langlaser slittler and a Nord Meccanica duplex lamination machine at Wentus.
The two subsidiaries specialise in blown and cast extrusion, printing and lamination and are capable of producing up to seven layer laminates that can be printed with up to eight colours and numerous finishes.
