CINPRES GAS INJECTION
Two competitors merge to form new company / Five moulding technologies on offer
Two previous competitors specialising in gas-assisted injection moulding technology have merged to form a new company. The amalgamation of Cinpres Ltd, Tamworth, and Gas Injection Ltd (GIL), Cheshire, into Cinpres Gas Injection Ltd (GB - Cheshire CW5 5RL; www.gasinjection.com) follows the acquisition of Gas Injection by the Cinpres parent company, the Kuwaiti-owned, but Birmingham-based, BI Group plc ( www.bi-group.com).
All equipment will be manufactured at the previous premises of Gas Injection, which will also be CGI´s headquarters. Previous GIL executives Terry Pearson, Nick Pearson and Jon Butler will be chairman, managing director and engineering / manufacturing director, respectively, for CGI. Former Cinpres managing director Steve Jordan is being retained as a consultant. GIL´s Raymond Foad will be market manager for CGI, based in Maastricht, responsible for customer service activities throughout Europe.
In addition to gas injection, CGI will be offering other techniques of pressurising plastic materials in the mould. These include external gas moulding, GIL´s plastic expulsion process and the water injection moulding technology developed by Cinpres and GIL´s German associate, Factor Maschinen & Anlagen GmbH, Hainburg. Also the Scorim method for improving weld strength and eliminating flow lines which has recently been exploited successfully by GE Plastics. All five processes will be demonstrated at K´2001.
Commenting on the merger, Terry Pearson said: “This will bring together a formidable combination of technologies, equipment and experience, with the ability to market and service customers worldwide.”
The combination of Cinpres and GIL is seen as giving CGI the market-leading position for gas-assisted moulding in the Far East and the number two slot in both Europe and the US.
